DOJ Says Trump Not Entitled to Documents Requested, Pushes for March 4 Trial Date

Special counsel Jack Smith's office filed a number of responses over the weekend, objecting to former President Donald Trump's request for a number of documents via discovery while also opposing his motion to pause court proceedings while an appeal is underway. 

"The Court should maintain the March 4 trial date," one of the briefs reads, arguing that the pretrial motions schedule should continue while the case is appealed.




New Iowa Poll Shows Trump Holding Commanding Lead

With about a month left before the big day, former President Donald Trump continues to be the top choice for likely Republican Party Iowa Caucus voters. 

On Dec. 11, Selzer & Co. released a new poll conducted on behalf of The Des Moines Register, NBC News, and Mediacom Communications Corp.

 The survey showed that 51 percent of respondents would pick President Trump as their first choice in the Jan. 15, 2024, Republican Caucus.
